Meet Our Therapists

Katie Rowbotham, MA AMFT

Associate Clinician, Community Builder
Somatic Experiencing

I’m passionate about working with adolescents and young adults to help them transform their pain. It’s not uncommon to be stuck with feelings of depression, anxiety, low self- worth. Often past experiences leave us with pain that alters our ability to experience joy. Do outside pressures to be a certain way leave you with feelings of guilt and shame about who you are? These are just some of the roadblocks that keep us isolated and block us from trusting and loving ourselves.

We aren’t meant to figure it out alone and there is no one size fits all in this process. I work eclectically and collaboratively so we can explore your suffering to uncover your unique gifts as you learn to heal yourself. I believe it can be helpful to understand our pasts, and how it has informed who we are and what we believe. I am also trauma informed and utilize somatic and mindfulness techniques to develop resiliency. Ultimately healing doesn’t just happen in the mind, for true release and freedom I believe it’s important to connect with our bodies to find safety and confidence within ourselves.

I also work with clients who have had or are preparing to have an experience with psychedelic medicines. These experiences can be catalyst for deep revelations and healing.

Creating an intention is an important way to prepare for and deepen your work while in the experience. Having a psychedelic experience can be one of the most powerful and profound unveilings, yet the experience itself is just 10% of the healing process. The biggest opportunity for transformation awaits in the other 90%, the integration. Support with integrating is helpful to guide you in transforming whatever makes you feel stuck, lost, or not good enough so you can connect with your true self.

I’m a Santa Monica native and graduate from Antioch University Los Angeles, where I completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology. I completed my traineeship at Antioch Community Therapy Services, a free therapy program initiated in response to the impact of Covid-19 for both clients and therapists. I had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, ages 23-68 focusing on anxiety, depression, trauma, substance issues and sexuality. I believe community is a necessary part of healing and something I hope to help cultivate in my work. Outside the therapy room, you can find me hiking, dancing or laying under the sun, more often than not with music in the background.
